GAME NOTES:***Devin Hester recorded his first career punt return for a touchdown in the second-quarter (51 yards) … the last Hurricane to take a punt back for touchdown was Roscoe Parrish against Boston College last season (92 yards) … Hester has now returned a punt and kickoff for touchdowns during his career…Hester took a kickoff back for a score against Florida last season (97 yards).

***Hester broke his second punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter … the returned covered 92 yards and tied Roscoe Parrish for the longest punt return in school history.

***Hester’s returns marks the third consecutive game UM has taken a punt for a touchdown against Louisiana Tech. Antrel Rolle returned a punt 66 yards for a score last season against Louisiana Tech, and Santana Moss posted a 69 yard touchdown return against Tech in 2000.

***Hester recorded 143 yards in punt returns which ranks second on UM’s all-time single game list…Kevin Williams recorded 152 yards on four punt returns against Penn State in 1991.

***Miami’s two punt returns for touchdowns is the first time since the 2000 season the Hurricanes returned two punts for touchdowns. Daryl Jones (87 yards) and Santana Moss (85 yards) both took a punt to the house against Boston College on Nov. 25, 2000.

***Miami 48-0 win marks its first shutout since November 17, 2001 versus Syracuse (59-0)…the margin of victory is the largest for UM since a 65-7 win over Washington in 2001.

***Miami has yet to allow an offensive touchdown this season…the last time UM opened the season without allowing an offensive touchdown in the first two games was in 1994. That season the Hurricanes opened with a 56-0 win over Georgia Southern followed by a 49-10 win over Arizona State (2 field goals, 2 safeties).

***The 10 points allowed to open the season are the fewest since 2001 when UM defeated Penn State 33-7 and Rutgers 61-0.

***Miami’s 34 first-half points are the most since December 7, 2002 when UM scored 35 en route to a 56-45 win over Virginia Tech.

***UM kicker Jon Peattie made all four of his PAT attempts in the first half moving him into fifth-place on Miami’s all-time list with 42 consecutive PATs … Peattie has never missed a PAT at Miami.

***Peattie also recorded field goals of 33 and 36 yards, moving him into a tie for eighth-place on UM’s all-time list with 25 career field goals, tying Jeff Davis (1980-83).

***Greg Olsen recorded a career-long 30-yard reception in the first quarter.

***Tyrone Moss recorded his first two touchdowns of the season in the first quarter matching his career-high for TD’s in a game.

***Akieem Jolla recorded a 13 yard reception in the first quarter marking his first action since the 2003 Fiesta Bowl and his first catch since October 5, 2002 against Connecticut.

***Ryan Moore has now caught at least one pass in 15 consecutive games.

***Miami starting quarterback Brock Berlin finished 10 of 14 for 122 yards with one touchdown and one interception … Berlin completed his final seven pass attempts before coming out of the game early in the third quarter.

***Kyle Wright took the first snap of his Miami career at the 2:45 mark of the third quarter.

***The Hurricanes’ defense held Louisiana Tech to only 52 yards rushing, marking the 21st straight game the Miami defense held its opponent under 200-yards rushing … UM has not allowed a 100 rusher in seven games (Kevin Jones, Virginia Tech – 124 yards).
