Men's Basketball Signs Anthony King

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Head basketball coach Perry Clark announces the signing of power forward/center Anthony King (Durham, NC/Southern Durham High School) to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Miami this fall.

“The addition of Anthony King to our line-up will give us a physical presence down low, and a person who can rebound and score in the post,” said Clark. “He is a tough BIG EAST type post player who has shown the ability during his high school career to score against some of the best players in the country.”

King (6-9, 240) averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks last season in leading Southern Durham High School to a 17-9 record. He was named first-team All-Area and All-Five County 3A by the Durham Herald-Sun.

King can play either power forward or center and recorded a triple double last season with 24 points, 23 rebounds and 10 blocks versus Webb High School.

King is the first recruit to sign with UM during the late signing period and joins 6-3 combo guard Guillermo Diaz (Miami Christian Academy), 6-6 forward Karron Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/The Winchendon [MA] School) and 6-9 forward/center Leonard Harden III (Detroit, MI/Garden City [KS] Community College) as UM signees for next season. Diaz, Clarke and Harden all signed during the early signing period in November.
