Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Head women’s track and field coach Amy Deem announces the signing of Khadija Talley (Columbus, Ga.) and Kaitlin Nazario (Rockaway, N.J.) to national letters of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall.

Talley, who is entering her senior season at Columbus High School, won two state championships as a sophomore in 2002 in the shot put (41-11.75) and discus (140-2). Last season she finished second in the shot put (42-9.00) and third in the discus.

This past summer Talley won the discus and took second in the shot put at the Georgia Junior Olympics. At the 2003 USATF Junior Olympics she placed third in both the shot put and discus.

Nazario, entering her senior season at Morris Knolls High School, won the 2003 New Jersey Group III state championship in the javelin (139-06). At this summer’s USATF Junior Olympics she took first in the javelin with a toss of 145-10.

Talley and Nazario are the second and third recruits to sign with Miami during the early signing period joining 400-meter runner Lauren Austin (Oak Ridge High School/Orlando, Fla.).
