Hurricanes Edged By Charlotte 69-64

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Demon Brown scored 15 points and hit a last-mintue3-pointer as Charlotte held on to beat Miami 69-64 on Sunday.
Curtis Nash added 12 points and Chris Sager scored 11 for the 49ers (3-3),who are 3-0 at home.
Darius Rice had 21 points and eight rebounds and James Jones scored 16 forthe Hurricanes (3-3), who shot just 38 percent as they dropped theirthird-straight game.
Brown’s fourth 3-pointer with 42.9 seconds gave Charlotte a 65-58 lead andended the Hurricanes’ final comeback attempt.
Miami cut a 20-point deficit to 44-42 on Ismael N’Diaye’s steal and layupwith 12:40 remaining. But a 3-pointer by Sager started an 11-0 run to put the49ers ahead 53-42 with 7:19 left.
Charlotte carved up Miami’s man-to-man defense in a 22-3 run to lead 31-11with 8:15 left in the first half. But Hurricanes coach Perry Clark switched toa zone, and the 49ers managed just two field goals over the final eightminutes. Eric Wilkins’ 3-pointer with under a minute left cut the 49ers’ leadto 36-29 at halftime.
It was the sixth-straight year the Big East and Conference USA schools met,with Charlotte now ahead in the series 4-2.
