Hurricanes Crush New Hampshire 93-58

MIAMI (AP) – Darius Rice led four Miami players in double figures with 19points as the Hurricanes defeated New Hampshire 93-58 Saturday night in theseason opener for both teams.
Rice scored eight points in a first half as Miami shot 50 percent from thefield compared with the Wildcats’ 24 percent.
The Hurricanes, who were held without a 3-pointer in the half, used runs of9-0, 11-0 and 8-0 to take a 44-28 halftime lead.
Rice scored twice during Miami’s 13-3 run to start the second half, but theWildcats answered with a 9-2 run.
Jeremy Friel came off the bench to hit two 3-pointers during the run, andthe Wildcats narrowed the Hurricanes’ lead to 59-40.
The Wildcats had success from 3-point range, shooting 40 percent, but theycouldn’t hit from inside the line. New Hampshire finished the game shooting alittle over 27 percent and committed 29 turnovers.
Paulo Coelho scored seven of his nine points after a timeout, and Rice addeda basket and a 3-pointer as Miami took a 74-46 lead to seal the game.
Miami’s James Jones, who recorded his seventh career double-double, had 14points and 11 rebounds, while Robert Hite had 13 points and Rafael Berumenadded 11.
Griffin Walker led New Hampshire with 12 points, including 3-of-3 frombehind the arc.
