Men's Hoops Signs Fourth Recruit

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Head men’s basketball coach Perry Clark announces the signing of 6-3 combination guard Guillermo Diaz to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall.

Diaz, a native of Puerto Rico, will play his senior season at Miami Christian Academy. As a junior last season in Puerto Rico, Diaz averaged 35 points per game.

Miami Christian Academy is ranked third in the preseason USA Today High School Basketball poll. Last season they finished 38-2, won their final 29 games and ended the season ranked 11th in the nation. They also recorded their second Class IA state title in the last three seasons.

Diaz is also a standout volleyball player who was being recruited by several Pac-10 schools including USC.

Diaz is the fourth player to sign with Miami during the early signing period joining 6-6 forward Karron Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/The Winchendon [MA] School), 6-9 forward/center Leonard Harden III (Detroit, MI/Garden City [KS] Community College) and 6-11 center Yankuba Camara (Gambia, West Africa/Moberly Area [MO] Community College).
