Sept. 11, 2002

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team continued preparations Wednesday for its BIG EAST Conference opener with Temple with an afternoon practice at Greentree Practice Field on the Coral Gables campus.

Coach Larry Coker, concerned about storms forecast for during the afternoon, said that he was relieved to have gotten practice in.

“We were worried about floods, but we got it all in,” Coker said. “This was a pretty good work day for us. One of the things that stands out is we’re still having too many dropped balls. In the game against Florida we had too many dropped passes. We had several dropped passes today. We’ve got to pick our intensity up and make sure we get that corrected in order to be where we want to be. We’re flying around pretty well and we’re relatively healthy and we’re ready to have a great game. It’s good to see (placekicker Todd) Sievers kicking relatively well and (punter Freddie) Capshaw probably kicked better today than he has in a number of days.”

UM will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday for to take on Temple.
