Three Hurricanes Selected on Day 2 of NFL Draft

PITTSBURGH – Three Hurricanes were selected on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft Friday at Acrisure Stadium, bringing Miami’s two-day draft total to six players picked.

QB Carson Beck (No. 65, Arizona Cardinals), OL Markel Bell (No. 68, Philadelphia Eagles) and DB Jakobe Thomas (No. 98, Minnesota Vikings) were all selected, adding to Miami’s three first-round selections: Francis Mauigoa (No. 10 overall, New York Giants), Rueben Bain, Jr. (No. 15 overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Akheem Mesidor (No. 22, Los Angeles Chargers).

One of the top-performing quarterbacks for his entire collegiate career, Beck shined in his lone season at Miami in 2025 while guiding the Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Beck tossed for 30 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions, totaling 3,813 passing yards and completing 338 of 467 passes (72.4 percentage) in a program-record 13-win season.

Bell served as Miami’s standout left tackle in another dominant campaign, providing an anchor for one of the best units in the nation. Miami ranked No. 5 in FBS in tackles for loss allowed thanks largely to Bell’s efforts, and was named to the midseason watch list for the Joe Moore Award honoring the nation’s top offensive line. The Mississippi native was one of UM’s top-ranked players since arriving at Miami prior to 2024, starting games in both seasons.

Thomas ranked No. 2 in tackles for Miami in 2025, delivering a standout year in his lone campaign with the Hurricanes by finishing with 76 stops. A native of Tennessee, Thomas added four tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in a dominant year. Thomas, one of Miami’s top defensive standouts, had five interceptions – one short of the team-high total – and had six PBUs, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

The 2026 NFL Draft continues through Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.
