Hurricanes Work Through Closed Scrimmage At Orange Bowl

Aug. 23, 2002

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team wrapped up the two-a-days portion of its preseason practice schedule with two workouts on Wednesday, including a scrimmage under the lights at the Orange Bowl.

Head Coach Larry Coker put the team through a normal practice in the morning at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus before the team broke camp during the day and ended the day with a 7 p.m. scrimmage at the Orange Bowl. The scrimmage was closed to the public and no details were released.

“It’s been productive, but we still have a lot of work today,” Coker said. “We have been banged up quite a bit and the guys are tired, but they’ve worked really hard. I cannot really judge, but the players all seem to think they’ve worked harder this year than in the past. I do know this, they are in great condition. Most of our health problems are just the typical things you encounter in the preseason.”

The Hurricanes first game of the season is Saturday, August 31, with a 7 p.m. kickoff time at the Orange Bowl.
