UM's Williams Advances To 100-Meter Final At Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami freshman Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) won her preliminary heat with a time of 11.48 to advance to Saturday’s 100-meter final at the Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia, PA.

Williams, who earned All-America honors in the 60-meters during the indoor season, recorded the second fastest time of qualifying round. Ranked sixth in the nation in the 100-meters this season, Williams will face many of the nation’s top ranked sprinters in the final including No. 2 Muna Lee (LSU), No. 5 Stephanie Durst (LSU), Rachel Boone (Indiana) and Connie Moore (Penn State) who are tied for 12th, and No. 19 Amber Robinson (Florida).

Williams also ran the second leg of the 4×100-meter relay, which took seventh with a time of 45.31. Joining Williams on the relay was senior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern), junior Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) and freshman Wiande Moore (Spring, TX).

Miami concludes competition at the Penn Relays on Saturday with 100-meters and the 4×400-meter relay.
