Myrick Leads Hurricane Women At FIU Invitational

Miami, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Senior All-American Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) won the 400-meters and anchored the 4×400-meter relay to a first-place finish at the FIU Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Myrick, who won the 400-meters in a time of 54.35 earlier in the day, joined juniors Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) and Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) in outdistancing the field in 4×400-meter relay.
Whittaker was the top collegiate finisher in the 800-meters (2:16.84) while senior Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) was the top collegiate finisher in the 100-hurdles with a time of 13.58.
Lawson’s time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 29-June 1, in Baton Rouge, LA. Former Hurricane great and 1999 NCAA Champion Yolanda McCray won the 100-hurdles with a time of 13.38.
The Hurricanes return to action March 28-30 at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL.
