Sept. 20, 2001
Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships this Saturday, September 22, at the Miccasukee Greenway in Tallahassee, FL.
The UM women, who finished fifth in the state last season, will look to senior Jennifer Geroux (Balto, MD). Geroux, who finished 13th at last season’s State Championships, was the top finisher at the Hurricanes’ first race this season, the UCF Invitational on September 7. Geroux finished 11th to lead Miami to a fifth-place finish at the 16 team event.
The Hurricane men are looking to improve on last season’s third-place finish and will be led by seniors Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) and Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA).
Gaulrapp finished third at the 2000 Florida Intercollegiate Championships to earn All-State honors for the first time of his career. He has been the Hurricanes’ top finisher in nine consecutive races dating back to last season.
Boniface, who transferred from Washington State prior to last season, also earned All-State honors in 2000 with a fourth-place finish.
