Coral Gables, FL — www.hurricanesports.com – For the 18th year, Publix Supermarkets and the University of Miami have joined together for the Canes Fever Program. Canes Fever is an eight-week merchandising program that generates funds for the University of Miami Scholarship Fund.
“For many years, Publix has been a wonderful supporter of the University of Miami,” said UM Athletic Director Paul Dee. “The Canes Fever Program is another example of how Publix has a positive impact in our community. We are extremely grateful to everyone at Publix for their generosity.”
As of August 27, 101 vendors have joined the program. Publix will promote specially marked Canes Fever items from these vendors. A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of any “Canes Fever” item will be contributed to the University of Miami Scholarship Fund.
“Publix Supermarkets has been involved and associated with the University of Miami through Canes Fever for the past 18 years,” said Bill Fauerbach, Vice President of Retail Operations for Publix Supermarkets. “We feel our community involvement supports the programs centered around the youth of today…our leaders of tomorrow.”
The Canes Fever Program will begin on August 30 and runs through October 24. The University of Miami football team begins its home schedule with a game vs. Rutgers on Saturday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the Orange Bowl.
