CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes were an intense group during a two-hour practice session Thursday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus. The practice, the team’s first since the end of two-a-days on Tuesday night, focused on the installation of the game plan for Miami’s season opening clash with Penn State just nine days away.

“Our intensity was excellent today,” UM head coach Larry Coker said. “You could sense a higher intensity on the coaching staff and I think the players are more intense right now. You can tell it’s Penn State.”

The Hurricanes have another practice session Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Miami has a mock scrimmage slated for Saturday afternoon before a walk-through on Sunday. The weekend work is closed to media and the public. The team will resume regular practices on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree.

Miami begins the 2001 season on Saturday, September 1, at Penn State in a nationally televised contest (ABC Sports). Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
