Women's Track Ranked 25th In The Nation

Coral Gables, FL (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team is ranked 25th in the latest Trackwire Women’s Collegiate Track and Field Top-25 poll. Miami, fresh off its third BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in the last four seasons, has six individuals and one relay ranked on the national list.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes this season have been All-Americans Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) and Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA). Watson, the BIG EAST Champion in the 800-meters, is ranked eighth in the nation in the event while Clarke, the BIG EAST Champion in the triple jump, ranks fourth among all collegians.
Other Hurricanes on the NCAA list include senior Antonnikka Owens (Orlando, FL) who ranks eighth in the triple jump, sophomore Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) who ranks 21st in the 400-meters, sophomore Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) who ranks 21st in the 400-meter hurdles, and freshman Jennifer Penrose (Mesa, AZ) who ranks 24th in the shot put.
Also on the national list is the Hurricanes’ 4×400-meter relay of junior Jenise Winston (League City, TX), Wade, Whitaker and freshman Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern) which currently ranks 18th in the nation.
Miami travels to Atlanta, GA this weekend for the Reebok Invitational. The meet is the final tune-up prior to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 30-June 2, in Eugene, OR.
