UM Sprint Medley Relay Sets School-Record

Austin, TX – The University of Miami women’s sprint medley relay finished third in a school-record time of 3:51.23 to highlight Friday’s action at the 74th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, TX.
The relay, which consisted of freshman Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern), sophomore Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA), sophomore Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) and senior All-American Natalie Watson (Coral Springs), has now set the school-record in consecutive competitions. The team originally broke the record last weekend at the Florida Relays with a time of 3:51.37.
Also recording top performances were freshman Jennifer Penrose (Mesa, AR) who finished seventh in the shot put and junior Raquel Scott (Dallas, TX) who took seventh in the triple jump.
Penrose registered a season best throw of 14.37 meters (47-01.75) in recording her fourth top-10 finish this season. Scott recorded a triple jump of 12.33 meters (40-05.50) marking the second time in the last three competitions she has recorded a jump of over 40 feet.
Other Hurricanes competing on Friday were freshman Dore Madere (Dallas, TX) who finished 14th in the discus (43.86 meters) and junior Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) who took 10th in the long jump (5.86 meters).
Competition at the Texas Relays concludes on Saturday.
