Watson Posts NCAA Provisional Mark In the 800-meters

Gainesville, FL – Senior All-American Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) was the top collegiate finisher in the 800-meters and the women’s 4×400-meter relay registered an NCAA provisional qualifying mark to highlight Saturday’s action at the 58th Coca-Cola Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL.
Watson, who earned All-America honors earlier this year with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, took second with a time of 2:07.20. Samantha George, running unattached, won the event with a time of 2:05.51. Watson’s time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 30-June 2, in Eugene, OR.
Miami’s 4×400-meter relay of junior Jenise Winston (League City, TX), sophomore Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA), sophomore Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) and freshman Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern) finished second with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:36.35.
Whittaker also competed in the 400-meter dash finishing fifth with a time of 54.64 while Wade took second in the 400-meter hurdles posting a time of 59.49.
The Hurricanes return to action April 5-7 at the Texas Relays in Austin, TX.
