Madere, 4x400-Relay Win At FIU Invitational

Miami, FL – University of Miami freshman Dore Madere (Dallas, TX) took first in the discus while the Miami 4×400-meter relay was also victorious at the FIU Invitational in Miami, FL.

Madere won for the first time this season with a season-best throw of 45.14 meters (148-01) while the 4×400-meter relay was also victorious for the first time this year with a time of 3:41.69.

All-American Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) was the top collegiate finisher in the 400-meters with a time of 55.81. Former Hurricane All-American Yolanda McCray won the event (54.69).

The Hurricanes had several second-place finishers including sophomore Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) in the 800-meters (2:11.48) and sophomore Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) in the shot put (42-01.25).

Miami also performed well in the horizontal jumps recording three of the top four places in the triple jump and two of the top three places in the long jump.

Leading the Hurricanes’ attack was senior Antonnikka Owens (Orlando, FL) who took second in the long jump (18-05.25) and third in the triple jump (39-10.75). All-American Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) was Miami’s top finisher in the triple jump taking second with a leap of 12.57 meters (41-03.00).

Miami returns to action March 29-31 at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL.
