Rice Named Second-Team All-District

Coral Gables, FL – University of Miami freshman forward Darius Rice (Jackson, MS) has been named to the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-District 6 second-team released today.

Rice is now eligible for the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-America Team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2000-01 NCAA men’s basketball season.

Rice has started all 26 games this season at small forward and has helped lead Miami to a 15-11 record averaging a team-best 14.6 points per game. He currently ranks third on the team in rebounding (5.0 rpg), second in steals (31) and fourth in blocks (12).

The freshman has recorded 18 double-figure scoring games this season including four 20-point games and two 30-point games. He set a UM freshman single-game scoring record with 35 points against Central Florida on December 9 and established another UM freshman record with seven three-point field goals versus Virginia Tech on January 10.
