Hurricanes Continue Preparation For Rutgers

Sept. 27, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes continued game-week preparations for their upcoming clash with Rutgers with a two-hour practice at the Greentree Practice Field that focused on the game plan for Saturday night’s clash with the Scarlet Knights.

“It was a good day of practice and we got a lot done,” said head coach Butch Davis. “Obviously, we’ve got some guys who are going to have to step up. We’ve got some guys who are injured.”

Davis explained that running back Clinton Portis and defensive lineman Damione Lewis will miss playing time after both suffered foot injuries.

Clinton Portis yesterday in practice had a crack in the arch of his foot – not a break,” Davis said. “Damione Lewis has a similar type of injury that he suffered in the Washington game. We’ve got about 10 or 12 guys who are injured and could miss some playing time.”

Davis declined to speculate specifically about the amount of time either player will miss. “It will be a day to day, week to week thing and we’ll just have to monitor their progress and see how they are doing,” Davis said.

The Hurricanes continue practice Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree. All practices are closed to the public. For ticket information concerning Hurricanes football, contact the UM Ticket Office at (305) 284-2263 or 1-800-GO-CANES. Tickets may also be ordered online at www.hurricanesports.com.
