UM Swings Into Preparation For Conference Opener

Sept. 14, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – With the BIG EAST Conference football opener nine days ahead, the Hurricanes of the University of Miami had a lively two-hour practice session Thursday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Field on the UM campus. The workout focused on game preparations for the September 23 matchup with West Virginia, a game that will be nationally televised by CBS from Morgantown, W.Va.

“I think we accomplished a lot today before the rain cut us short towards the end of practice,” said head coach Butch Davis. “We’ve put the Washington game behind us and we’re focusing on what’s ahead. We still have a lot we can do this season and it all starts with the West Virginia game. The players, in particular, have done a very good job of shaking off the loss (as Washington). I’ve been impressed with the way they’ve bounced back this week.”

Davis also announced one personnel move as defensive lineman Adrian Wilson has been dismissed from the football team. “We’ve dismissed Adrian Wilson from the team because of repeated violations of team rules,” Davis said after practice.

Practice resumes Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. before the Hurricanes take the weekend off. All practices are closed to the public.
