Football Practice Report - Friday, August 11

Aug. 11, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes continued two-a-day preseason football practices Friday with a pair of two-hour sessions on the Greentree Practice Field. A strong thunderstorm interrupted the afternoon practice for approximately 40 minutes before the team resumed work, but head coach Butch Davis was pleased with the play of his offensive line.

“One of the things about training camp is getting in the mindset of feeling good about pushing yourself almost to the point of exhaustion, not trying to save yourself for the fourth quarter,” said head coach Butch Davis. “An area in which we made great strides today had to be with the offensive line’s ability to keep the pressure on the defense. They’re going to make some mistakes – they’re as inexperienced as any group on this team – but they made a step forward toward becoming a good offensive line today with the effort and intensity with which they practiced.”

The Hurricanes resume two-a-day practices Saturday with sessions scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Greentree. UM football practices are open to the public through August 15.
