Hurricanes Complete First Full-Squad Football Practice

Aug. 10, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes officially opened full-scale preseason football practice Thursday morning with a two-hour session on the Greentree Practice Field. The Hurricanes concentrated on seven-on-seven drills and fundamentals in their first workout since veterans reported Tuesday night. The Hurricanes resume practice this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

“It was a wonderful first practice for us,” said head coach Butch Davis. “We’ve got plenty of players who are four or five years into the process, so we have a large group of players who know how to practice and that helps us get off to a good start. This was far and away the most sophisticated first workout we’ve had since I’ve been here. We have 29 practice opportunities before we start the season, so we can’t waste any time. This morning’s practice sets the bar for what will follow.”

UM football practices are open to the public through August 15. For ticket information for Hurricanes football, contact the UM Ticket Office at (305) 284-2263 or 1-800-GO-CANES. Tickets may also be ordered online at www.hurricanesports.com.
