Miami's 2000 Football Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami athletic director Paul Deeannounced the Hurricanes’ 2000 football schedule which features home gameswith the two teams that vied for the National Championship in the Sugar Bowland a total of five teams that appeared in post-season bowls.

“This is a very competitive schedule that features some of thenation’s top teams,” said Dee. “I think our fans will find the scheduleattractive as we host games in the Orange Bowl that will have a significantimpact on the college football landscape in 2000.”

Miami’s home games in the Orange Bowl feature defending nationalchampion Florida State on October 7 and second-ranked Virginia Tech onNovember 4. Florida State defeated Virginia Tech, 46-29, in the Sugar Bowlto win the 1999 national championship.

UM opens the 2000 season with a Thursday night game with McNeese State in the Orange Bowl. In addition to Florida State and Virginia Tech,Miami will host Louisiana Tech, Pittsburgh and Boston College (insight.comBowl) in the Orange Bowl.

On the road, the ‘Canes will travel to Washington (Holiday Bowl) onSeptember 9 in UM’s lone non-conference road game. In conference play,Miami travels to West Virginia, Rutgers, Temple, and Syracuse (Music CityBowl).

Three Miami games have already been selected for television broadcast andstart times have been determined for two contests. Those games are: FloridaState (CBS, noon), Virginia Tech (CBS, TBD) and Syracuse (ESPN, 7:30).Additional television selections will be announced as they are made.
