Sugar Bowling in The Big Easy!!
One of the much anticipated matchups of this year’s college post season bowls will be played in the other city that never sleeps, the big easy. This game has all the intangibles that anyone could dream of. This game is one that the fans have wanted for a long time. It is a battle for state supremacy and most of all to the victor it is to say that you are the Champions of the 2001 Nokia Sugar Bowl.
On January 2nd you will see two teams that will play hard-nose football for 60 minutes. This is the type of game that as a player you get to appreciate. All the hype surrounding the game is there. We will be the only show in town, rivals and supporters will be watching the intriguing match up…as a player what more can you ask for? The best thing about this game is that it great for the fans of the two teams. These are the people whom bring the excitement to the Dome. It’s important that in such as this that we don’t forget the people who make possible to have a game and just to have people going back and forth talking about football is a great future outlook for our sport.
King’s Keys of the Game:
On offense I think it will be important for us to protect the football. We can not afford to give them extra opportunities to put points on the board. And most importantly when we get the opportunity to score, that we take advantage of it. Whether it be 7 points or 3 because with this being a stingy defense, we will have to take what we can get.
This game will be a final exam so to speak of challenging our special teams to step up and make play. Florida has a lot of talented players so we are going into the game with the mentality of expecting anything and everything.
Defensively, on the other hand, we have to create some big plays. Sacks, interceptions or even a fumble recovery would be big in a game like this. Our defense has been challenged before to cover big play wide receivers, running backs and the opposing quarterback. This game has all of that and some and in talking to our guys I know that they are ready for it.
This game will be all about momentum and which of two teams can hold on to it longer. Momentum will swing back and forth on January 2nd, but it will be the team who stays composed and poised under pressure that will win this game.
This is a challenge to the ‘Cane fans, you know we will be in SEC country playing in the Superdome. So what we need each of you to do is pick up the phone and call1-800-GO-CANES. Buy you, your friend and a friend’s friend a ticket so we can be just as loud. Support the home team by showing up in New Orleans. What a better place to bring in the New Year and support your local team.
We wish you all a very safe and Happy Holiday season and hope to see in the Super Dome on January 2nd. Take care.
From a ‘Cane to all those crazed ‘Canes fans!!
