HAIL TO THE SENIORS!!!
The last game for the senior class in the Orange Bowl could not have ended any other way. With many friends and family looking on, this class proved the critics wrong again by beating the Boston College Eagles 52-6.
This class came in with high expectations, the road was bumpy in the early stages, but we persevered through a lot of turmoil to get this program back in the national spotlight.
17 came in as young boys and 17 are leaving as true gentlemen.
All are on track to graduate with their prospective degrees and ready to tackle whatever obstacle the real world will throw at them.
I just want to thank all the “TRUE” ‘cane fans that have supported us during the good and bad times, those fans such as the “West Endzone Crew”, My boy Cigar Carlos, The Rothwells, The Mack’s, the fans in section 400 on the upper deck (we hear ya) and all the other troopers that gave us nothing but love. You all are the reasons why we made it through, from all the seniors..thanks.
I want to take the time to remember one of the biggest ‘Cane fan to ever walk the grounds of Coral Gables. The late “Cigar” Carlos Sevilla was the one guy you could spot in any crowd because he was the one holding a box filled with victory cigars for the coaches after every win. Hence the name Cigar Carlos. A true friend who will always be watching, we love you man..for ever and always.
On a personal level things could not be better. I will be graduating on December 14th at 9:30 a.m., my wife Jessica will be giving birth to our first child in April (a baby girl) and I’m on a championship team. What else can a guy ask for. This has been a great year for me both on and off the field, I couldn’t have scripted my senior year any other way. Now let’s hope the BCS will add that cherry atop my five-layer cake.
You know whatever bowl they send us to our main goal is the same as any other, and that is to win the bowl game and finish the year on a high note.
Well fans it’s been a great four years, signing off until the bowl game. Take care and continue to bleed Orange and Green!!
From a ‘Cane to all the crazed ‘Canes fans!!
