Miami Football Practice Report

Oct. 31, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The third-ranked Miami Hurricanes practiced for two hours Tuesday afternoon as full-scale preparations began for Saturday’s clash with second-ranked Virginia Tech. Miami, which enters the game riding a five-game winning streak, worked out under overcast skies at the Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus. The Hurricanes host the Hokies Saturday at Noon in a nationally televised game (CBS) with kickoff slated for 12:10 p.m.

“We got off to a good start today,” said head coach Butch Davis. “Most everybody practiced, although a few guys were a little limited. But, all in all, it was a good day of work for us. The challenge this week, really, is to get the most out of all three phases of the game. That’s something that isn’t easy to do.”

Key injury news centered on linebacker Dan Morgan, who practiced Tuesday after suffering a foot injury in Miami’s 42-31 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night. Also, fullback D.J. Williams saw activity after sustaining a separated shoulder in that game.

The Hurricanes continue practice Tuesday afternoon at Greentree at 3:15 p.m. All practices are closed to the public. For ticket information concerning Hurricanes football, contact the UM Ticket Office at (305) 284-2263 or 1-800-GO-CANES. Tickets may also be ordered online at www.hurricanesports.com.
