UM Soccer Falls 3-0 To No. 1 Notre Dame In The BIG EAST Quarterfinals

NOTRE DAME, IN–The University of Miami women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 1 Notre Dame in the BIG EAST tournament at Alumni Field in Notre Dame, Ind. Sunday afternoon.
Miami ends the 2000 season with a record of 9-10-1 overall, while Notre Dame improves to 18-0-1.
Miami was the only team this season to get more than two corner kicks in a match when playing the Fighting Irish. Miami tallied four corner kicks.
The Fighting Irish scored the first goal at 34:59. The goal was scored by Amy Warner. This was the only goal of the first half, with ND taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room at half-time.
The two second half goals came at 64:57 and 75:40. The goals were scored by Anne Makinen and Amanda Guertin.
This is the fourth time this season the Hurricanes have been shutout in a match. Three of the four times it was by a ranked opponent.
Goalkeeper Elizabeth Swinson (Boca Raton, Fla.) had a season-high of 13 saves in the losing effort.
Miami had a total of five shots, compared to 30 for Notre Dame. Notre Dame advances to the semi-final round of the BIG EAST tournament Nov. 3-5 at Notre Dame.
