Sarabyn, Gaulrapp Win For Second Straight Week

Miami, FL – University of Miami senior Shannon Sarabyn (Centreville, VA) took first in the women’s competition and junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) was the top finisher in the men’s competition at the FIU Invitational held at Tamiami Park in Miami.

The victories mark the second consecutive for Sarabyn and Gaulrapp who both won individual titles at last weekend’s UCF Invitational in Orlando, FL.

Sarabyn, who recorded her seventh career individual title, blew away the field completing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:37. Sarabyn’s time was more than one minute faster than FIU’s Liz Borrell who took second in a time of 18:39.

The UM women’ had five runners finish in the top-9 en route to winning the team competition. Other top finishers for Miami included Jennifer Geroux (4th, 18:57), junior Natalie Watson (5th, 19:20), freshman Christian Delgadillo (8th, 20:11) and sophomore Saraque Whittaker (9th, 20:18).

On the men’s side, Gaulrapp won his second career individual title completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:18. Gaulrapp finished 13 seconds ahead of freshman teammate Dan Bonaface (Seattle, WA). Bonaface, competing in his first collegiate contest, posted a time of 26:31.
