Hurricanes Prepare For Season Opener
Aug. 24, 2000
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – A two-hour practice in full pads officially started game week preparations for the University of Miami as the Hurricanes have one week remaining before the 2000 season opener against the McNeese State Cowboys.
The Hurricanes began to focus their work on McNeese State in the practice session at Greentree Practice Field on the UM campus. On the injury front, the team continues to return to health in the wake of two-a-days as tight end Jeremy Shockey returned to action after missing five days with an ankle sprain and offensive lineman Scott Puckett was cleared to practice after recovering from a back injury.
“We had a very good start for the first week of actual game preparation,” said head coach Butch Davis. “We’re actually in the Tuesday portion of what a normal game week would be. Some of our guys are getting back from injuries and we’re encouraged by what we’re seeing.”
The Hurricanes will continue preparation for McNeese State with another practice Friday at 3:30 p.m. All practices are closed to the public.
