Hurricanes Football Practice Report - Aug. 10

Aug. 10, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes officially opened full-scale preseason football practice Thursday with a pair of two-hour sessions on the Greentree Practice Field. The Hurricanes concentrated on seven-on-seven drills and fundamentals in morning workout before focusing on the running game and special teams in the afternoon session.

“At the end of the practice, I talked with the team about the fact that there’s no mystery to winning football games,” said head coach Butch Davis. “The teams that win are the teams that are the most efficient. We have to improve at the fundamentals. I could care less about learning a lot of plays (at this point). We are going to execute and be very good at the fundamentals of this game because we have guys that are willing. They know what it takes, we’ve just got to make sure that we do that.”

The Hurricanes resume two-a-day practices Friday with practices scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. UM football practices are open to the public through August 15.
