CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami athletic director Paul Dee today announced start times for the Hurricanes’ 2000 football schedule.

The Hurricanes open their 2000 campaign at home in the Orange Bowl on Thursday, August 31, vs. McNeese State at 7:30 p.m. Nine days later, on September 9, the Hurricanes travel almost 3,000 miles to take on Pac-10 Conference power Washington in a nationally televised (ABC) game slated to kick off at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.

The game at Washington is the first of three consecutive road contests for the Hurricanes. On Sept. 23, Miami plays West Virginia starting at 3:30 followed on Sept. 30 with a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Rutgers.

The month of October begins with the renewal of one of college football’s greatest rivalries as the Hurricanes host Florida State at the Orange Bowl on Oct. 7 beginning at Noon on national television (CBS). Following a week off, UM returns to action with a road game at Temple on Oct. 21 at Noon.

UM closes out the regular season with four of its final five games at home. The stretch begins with a non-conference matchup with unheralded Louisiana Tech at Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. followed by a visit from 1999 BIG EAST Conference champion Virginia Tech in a nationally televised (CBS) contest kicking off at Noon on Nov. 4, UM’s annual Homecoming game.

The Pittsburgh Panthers come to the Orange Bowl to take on the Canes on Nov. 11 before the Hurricanes conclude the regular season road schedule with a conference showdown at BIG EAST rival Syracuse on November 18. The Boston College Eagles invade the Orange Bowl on Nov. 25 for the regular season’s finale.

Season tickets and individual game tickets can be purchased at the Hurricane ticket office, located in the Hecht Athletic Center, from 9-5, Monday-Friday. Tickets can also be ordered over the phone by calling (305) 284-CANES (in Dade) or 1-800-GO-CANES (outside Dade).
