Hello Hurricane fans and welcome to another exciting edition of King’s Court. The 2000 football season is almost on. Do you have your season tickets yet? If not call 1-800-GO-CANES.
Well as you all know we are thrilled about the upcoming season. We have another action-packed schedule, which will include both teams which played for the National Championship last year, Florida State and Virginia Tech, in our back yard at the Orange Bowl this year. Then we have to go out to Washington to play against a well-coached, tough Husky team. And let’s not forget our Big East rivals. As you can tell we have our work cut out for us. That is why we have not taken a break in the weight room nor on our practice field.
Our off-season conditioning program is one of the tops in the nation. A typical day consist of a two-hour workout, one hour lifting weights and the other outside running under the Florida sunshine. We all know what happens in the weight room, clanging dumbbells and weight plates, but what other school can say that they have the beach on their practice facility. That’s right, our famous South Beach comes to life in Coral Gables. It is 50 yards long and 15 yards wide of nothing but Florida beach sand. We do a lot of speed enhancing drills on “South Beach” that helps our overall team speed, strength and flexibility. South Beach is also the place that one must go if any practice rules are broken. You do not want to be one of the unfortunate souls chosen to enter the sand pit.
Other than that guys are all here working within our summer job program to earn a little extra cash, others are in summer school getting ahead in classes, along with internships. Miami is just a great place to be period, there are tons of activities to do on your free time. I don’t have to go into details because I am sure you have all heard about these great places to go.
Well we hope that you fans are as fired up as we are when it becomes football time. Excitement and anticipation do not come close to describing how we feel about the upcoming season – words can not explain. We just want you to come out and enjoy a season to remember with us… See you at the Orange Bowl. WIN 12 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
