Myrick Named All-America

Durham, NC – University of Miami junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) earned All-America honors in the 200-meters at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Durham, NC.

Myrick, the BIG EAST Champion and UM record holder, recorded the eighth-fastest time during Friday’s semifinals. Myrick finished fifth in her heat to barely miss qualifying for Saturday’s final.

The 2000 USTCA South Region Outdoor Athlete of the Year, Myrick becomes the Hurricanes’ 18th track and field All-American since 1992. In addition, Myrick’s performance extends Miami’s streak of consecutive seasons with at least one outdoor All-American to nine.

Under the guidance of head coach Amy Deem, the Hurricanes have had a combined total of 30 indoor and outdoor track All-Americans.

In the women’s triple jump sophomore All-American Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) finished 15th with a leap of 12.68 meters (41-07.25).
