Myrick Prepares For 200-Meter Semis

Durham, NC – Miami junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) will compete in the semifinals of the 200-meters while junior Aaron Moser (Bonne Terre, MO) will begin competition in the decathlon on Friday, June 2 at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Durham, NC.

Myrick, the 10th ranked 200-meter runner in the nation and this season’s BIG EAST Champion, recorded the sixth fastest qualifying time (23.40) during Wednesday’s preliminary round. Semifinal competition is scheduled for 8:55 p.m.

Moser, the three-time BIG EAST Decathlon Champion, will begin competition starting with the 100-meters at 2 p.m. Other decathlon events scheduled for Friday include the long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meters.

Moser enters the NCAA Championships ranked 11th in the nation in the decathlon. The decathlon competition will conclude on Saturday.

In Thursday’s action, Myrick competed in the 100-meter preliminaries. The 2000 USTCA South Region Athlete of the Year finished sixth in her heat with a time of 11.60 to miss advancing to the semifinals by two one-hundredths of a second.

Miami’s sixth-ranked 4×400-meter relay, the first 4×400-meter relay in UM history to qualify for the NCAA Championships, was disqualified due to an illegal handoff during its semifinal heat.
