Wyrick Named South Region Athlete of the Year

Coral Gables, FL – Miami junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) has been selected the South Region Women’s Outdoor Athlete of the Year by the United States Track Coaches Association.

Myrick, who has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200-meters, is one of nine finalist for the National Athlete of the Year Award which will be handed out on Tuesday, May 30.

Myrick, the 2000 BIG EAST Most Outstanding Track Performer, won the 100-meter and 200-meter titles at this season’s BIG EAST Outdoor Championships while anchoring the 4×400-meter relay to a second-place finish. Myrick’s winning time in the 200-meters (23.23) set a BIG EAST record.

Myrick currently ranks 10th in the nation in the 100-meters, 14th in the 200-meters and is a member of Miami’s sixth ranked 4×400-meter relay.
