Women's Track Relay Advances To Finals At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Miami women’s 4×400-meter relayfinished second in its heat with a time of 3:40.92 to advance to Saturday’schampionship at the 106th Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia, PA.
Miami’s relay ranks 15th in the nation and consists of JeniseWinston (League City, TX), Wylesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern), PatriciaPearson (Jacksonville, FL) and Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. ThomasAquinas). Miami will face some of the nation’s top ranked relay teams onSaturday including No. 2 Texas, No. 3 South Carolina, No. 5 Rice, No. 9Georgetown and No. 26 Florida.
Other strong performances included Miami junior Shannon Sarabyn(Centreville, VA) and freshman Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge).Sarabyn finished 15th in the 5,000-meters (16:56.64) running the secondfastest time in UM history. Sarabyn missed breaking the school record byjust four one-hundreths of a second.
Moss continued her impressive freshman season recording top-10finishes in both the discus and shot put. Moss took sixth in the shot putwith a throw of 13.03 meters (42-09.00) and eighth in the discus with a tossof 43.78 meters (143-08).
