UM Wins 4x800 at Texas Relays

Austin, TX – The University of Miami women’s 4×800-meter relay of senior Danika Dodds (Coral Gables), freshman Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas), junior All-America Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) and freshman Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) finished first in a school-record time of 8:38.31 to highlight the first day of competition at the 73rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, TX.
Miami easily outdistanced the field finishing eight seconds ahead of second-place Missouri (8:46.26). The winning time, which shattered the old school record (8:51.15) by nearly 13 seconds, gives the Hurricanes the fastest time in the BIG EAST this season.
The Hurricanes return to competition on Friday beginning with the long jump at 10 a.m. (CT), followed by the shot put at 11 a.m. and triple jump at 2 p.m. Miami will conclude the second day of competition with the sprint medley relay at 8:05 p.m.
