UM Defeats West Virginia, 77-55

CORAL GABLES, FL – Dalia Clarke recorded her first career double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Gina Graziani became UM’s career assist leader as the University of Miami women’s basketball team (11-12, 5-7 BIG EAST) defeated West Virginia, 77-55, on Tuesday at the Knight Sports Complex on the Coral Gables campus.
The Hurricanes held the Mountaineers to .306 shooting from the floor, allowing only 19 baskets while causing 22 turnovers. The Hurricanes scored the first basket of the game and remained in control, taking a 10-point lead into halftime. The second stanza was much of the same as the ‘Canes led by as many as 22 and held on for the final margin.
Graziani finished with 11 points and eight assists. She now has 697 assists in her career. Junior Camilla Osth finished with a team-high 19 points. Rookie Alicia Hartlaub also scored in double figures with 10 markers.
Mandy Ronay led WVU with 16 points. Val Zona chipped in with 14.
The Hurricanes return to action on Saturday, February 19 when they travel to Georgetown for a BIG EAST matchup.
