Women's Track Fares Well At Florida Intercollegiates

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s track and field team openedthe indoor season Sunday with the Florida Intercollegiates at the Stephen C.O’Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida. No team scoreswere kept. Natalie Watson took first place in the 800-meter dash with anNCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:09.57 while the Hurricanes wereimpressive in the field events.

UM placed well in the running events paced by Wilson’s finish in the800-meters. She was followed by Danikka Dodds (2:11.85) with a fourth placeshowing and Patricia Pearson (2:12.68) who finished in sixth. JeniseWinston (56.55) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with Jamillah Wade(56.82) and Saraque Whittaker (57.15) finishing sixth and seventhrespectively. Wylleshia Myrick finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with atime of 24.36. The 4×400-meter relay team finished third with a time of3:43.98.

The Hurricanes dominated the triple jump as Kareen Clarke set a school-record and took first place with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 12.89 meters (42-3).Antonnika Owens finished third (12.52 m, 41-1) and Gina Harris (12.01 m,39-5) placed seventh. Clarke (6.05 m, 19-10.25) also managed a second-placefinish in the long jump. Freshman Adrienne Moss (13.93 m, 45-8) set a school-record in the shot put in finishing second and also took tenth in the weight throw (12.84 m, 42-1).
