Hurricanes Ranked Consensus #15 In Final Polls

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team (9-4) isranked No. 15 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches final1999 poll. The Hurricanes earned the ranking following their 28-13 victoryover Georgia Tech in the Toyota Gator Bowl on New Year’s Day.
The ranking marks Miami’s highest since a consensus No. 14 rankingfollowing a 9-3 record in 1996. Miami has been ranked in the AssociatedPress poll’s final top-25 in 18 of the last 20 seasons. In 14 of the last20 years, Miami has been ranked in the final AP poll’s top-15, includingfour No. 1 rankings (1983, ’87, ’89, ’91).
The Hurricanes return 17 starters and 40 players listed on theend-of-year two-deep for next season. The 2000 schedule includes home gamesagainst No. 1 Florida State, No. 2 Virginia Tech, and Boston College, aswell as road games at Washington, West Virginia and Syracuse.
