Former UM Star Blue Chosen in WNBA Expansion Draft

NEW YORK – FormerUniversity of Miami women’s basketball playerOctavia Blue (1994-98) was selected in today’s WNBA Expansion Draftby thefirst-year Minnesota Linx franchise.

Blue, a 1998 All-BIG EASTFirst Team selection, was initiallydrafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the second round of the 1998 WNBADraft. She averaged 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds primarily asa reservecoming off the bench in 30 games last season, while starting three.

Blue left the Universityof Miami as its fourth all-time leadingscorer and places among the top ten all-time in nearly every statistic.
