Men's Basketball To Play Last Exhibition Of Season Thursday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball teamwill play its final exhibition game against Upstate Basketball on Thursday,Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Knight Sports Complex on UM’s campus. Admission isfree.
Miami, which is ranked No. 25 in the preseason Associated Press Top25 College Basketball poll, returns eight letterwinners, including fourstarters, from last season’s 23-7 squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournamentfor the second consecutive season.
The Hurricanes will be led this season by 6-5 senior guard JohnnyHemsley. Hemsley, a preseason first team All-BIG EAST selection, averaged17.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last season and was namedthe 1998-99 BIG EAST Most Improved Player. Hemsley is one of 30 preseasoncandidates for Naismith Award given annually to the nation’s top collegiatebasketball player.
Miami opens the regular season on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. againstCentral Florida in Orlando. The Hurricanes home opener will tip-off at 7:30p.m. on Nov. 23 against Monmouth in the Miami Arena.
