Scaglione Wins at Lady Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Miami freshman Lauren Scaglionedefeated Kansas’ Christi Wagenaar in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, for the FlightC Singles crown at the 1999 Lady Seminole Fall Classic at the Scott SpeicherTennis Center on the Florida State campus.
Scaglione (Seminole, Florida) advanced to the finals with astunning, 6-1, 6-0, straight set victory over Kansas veteran Lisa Mallaih inthe semifinals. Her path to the finals started with another straight setwin over KU’s Kim Lorenz, 6-1,6-2, in the opening round and a three-setrally win, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, over Vanderbilt’s Eloise Harper in thequarterfinals.
In other singles action: UM senior Katia Bogolomova was defeated inthe Flight B Singles final, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 by Vanderbilt’s Lauren Rose.Junior Alanna Broderick was defeated in the Flight A Singles Consolationmatch 6-0, 6-1 by Northwestern’s Marine Piriou.
Freshman Inga DeVilliers fell in the Flight C Singles Semifinals toKansas’ Christ Wagenaar 6-2, 6-2. Senior Eva Jimenez fell to, Bogolomova,6-2, 6-2, in the Flight B Singles Semifinal.
