The King's Court

The King's Court

Monday morning, 11 a.m.

I think when we went up to Tallahassee, a lot of the guys were prepared morethan for any other game this year so far. We wanted to go up there and notbeat ourselves and we did a good job at that. We felt that if we had achance to win the game we wanted them to beat us and in doing that it keptthe game close. We don’t play to keep the game close, We don’t play formoral victory, We play to win. We’re disappointed that we didn’t come upwith a “W” but we have to go on from here and take the postives from thatgame and put it toward the rest of our season.

The mood of the team still seems upbeat – I personally apologize to each andeveryone of our seniors because you always want to beat your rivals so Iapologize for us not winning. But they are all saying we still have the restof the season to go. When it comes to my senior season, I want to beat therivals and be sent out on a good note.

This week it’s all Temple of course. A very dangerous team – they beat anundefeated team in Boston College and not even a year ago they beat VirginiaTech in Blacksburg, VA, so we’re looking forward to a great contest. We’reall looking toward the Big East Conference — that’s what we have left toplay for — our pride and our conference.

As for me personally it’s a very busy week. I already had one class thismorning. Since we were out of town, my wife Jessica, took my dog Penny, alittle mini-pincher, to my mother-in-law’s house, so I get to pick up ourdog. Today’s my day off from practice so I get to take care of somehousekeeping things, run to the store, do some food shopping, go to the malland get my wedding ring looked at because I accidently bent it, you get todo all the little things you can’t do the rest of the week …plus I havethree tests this week. I am majoring in business management with 15credits this term. That keeps me pretty busy. Usually guys take 12 creditsbut I’m pushing myself to graduate in December of 2000, a full semesterearly so in the spring semester I can start graduate classes.

Of course, the team will be coming back on Tuesday and prepare for Temple infull pads and just get to know Temple as much as we can before we play onSaturday.

We’re at the point where we can’t look past anyone. Teams are out to beat usand going after Miami because they are trying to get revenge from us winningprevious years. Other teams are hungry. We just have to be hungrier.

It will be nice to go back to the Orange Bowl and play. We need all thesupport we can get – we’re definitely trying to put on a good show for allwho come out to see us on Saturday.

From a ‘Cane to all the ‘Canes fans,

Andre’ King
