CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP)Darius Rice scored 15 points and William Frisbyadded a career-high 12 points to lead Miami past Louisiana-Monroe 78-60 Sunday.

Miami (2-0) built a quick 20-6 lead behind six points from Rice, and neverallowed Louisiana-Monroe to get closer than eight points throughout the firsthalf.

The Hurricanes closed the half with a buzzer-beating tip-in by sophomoreforward Gary Hamilton for a 45-31 lead.

Miami coach Perry Clark emptied his bench early in the second half, butreinserted his starting lineup after a Chavis Thompson layup cut the Hurricaneslead to 61-48 with 6:52 left to play. Miami then went on a 11-4 run keyed byfive points from Rice and four from sophomore guard Robert Hite, who finishedwith 10 points.

Rice and Frisby, who missed all of last season with a broken bone in hisright foot, grabbed seven rebounds apiece.

John Andrews scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting for Louisiana-Monroe,which fell to 0-2 on the season.

Miami frustrated the Indians with its aggressive defense, recording 14steals and scoring 30 points off of 21 Louisiana-Monroe turnovers.

Miami has now won 22 consecutive home game against a non-Big East Conferenceopponent.
