Hurricanes Begin Work On Florida Game Plan

Dec. 18, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – After several days of work on fundamentals and conditioning, the second-ranked Miami Hurricanes focused their attention on attacking the Florida Gators as preparations continued for the Nokia Sugar Bowl with a 90-minute practice at the Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus.

“We really got started today on working on Florida,” said head coach Butch Davis. “It was a good day of work. With classes finished, it gives us a chance to really work in a lot more detail on everything. We’ve had (the players) here working on a lot of different aspects in great detail. It allows us to make the most of the extra practice time that you get by going to a bowl game.”

The only notable player missing from Monday’s practice was defensive end Jevon Rhodes, who is awaiting clearance to return while recovering from the effects of a bruised back that led to a kidney malfunction late in the season.

Head coach Butch Davis and selected Miami players will be available to the news media at a press conference Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 in the Team Meeting Room of the Hecht Athletic Center. The Hurricanes continue practice Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Greentree. All practices are closed to the public.
