Hurricanes to Host NC State on Senior Night

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s soccer team plays host to the NC State Wolfpack on the Hurricanes’ senior night at Cobb Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with six Miami seniors to be honored in a pregame ceremony.

The Hurricanes return to Cobb Stadium after a tough two game road trip where they suffered losses at Duke and Wake Forest. Miami hopes to get back on track in the first of two consecutive home matches.

With a win, the `Canes will even their record and will prepare themselves for a postseason run with three games left in the season.

Brittney Steinbruch leads Miami with nine points on the season and is tied with freshman Kate Howarth for the team lead in goals and is only two goals shy of tying Britney Butcher’s school record of 29.

A Look at the WolfpackNC State enters Thursday’s contest with four straight defeats against ranked ACC opponents, all of which were in the top-10 in the polls.

Three players for the Wolfpack have multiple goals on the season, with Kara Blosser and Paige Dugal scoring nine and eight, respectively. Blosser leads her team with 20 points. Kim Kern has spent all but 61 minutes in goal this year and has recorded three shutouts with a 1.51 goals against average.

The SeriesThursday’s meeting will be the sixth between the two programs – dating back to 2004 season. The Wolfpack hold a 3-2 all-time lead in the series. However, Miami has won the last two meetings, including a season ago when Julianne Rickers scored the game’s lone goal in Raleigh, N.C.

Senior NightSenior student-athletes Courtney Alexander, Austen Everett, Beverly Goebel, Danielle Griebel, Paulelett Ricks-Chambers , Jessica Wyble and senior student athletic trainer Kim Barron will each be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the Hurricane soccer program in a pre-match ceremony.
