McClinton Named to NABC First Team All-District

March 3, 2009

Coral Gables, Fla… Senior guard Jack McClinton of the University of Miami men’s basketball team was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District on Tuesday in a vote by its members and is now eligible for the NABC’s All-America Team.

In 2008-09, the NABC realigned its districts by conference so student-athletes selected to the District 2 First and Second Teams are all from the ACC.

McClinton — the ACC’s all-time three-point field goal percentage leader (.447) — also leads the ACC this season in three-point field goal percentage (.481) and three-pointers per game (3.2), while ranking among the league’s top three in both scoring (19.7 ppg) and free throw percentage (.862). McClinton — who is ranked among the ACC’s top 10 in seven different statistical categories — is also among the league’s leaders in minutes played, field goal percentage and assist/turnover ratio.

Joining McClinton on the First Team is Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina), Jeff Teague (Wake Forest), Toney Douglas (Florida State) and Ty Lawson (North Carolina). The Second Team is comprised of Tyrese Rice (Boston College), Gerald Henderson (Duke), Trevor Booker (Clemson), Kyle Singler (Duke) and AD Vassallo (Virginia Tech).

McClinton is the 22nd all-district selection from Miami and the first since Guillermo Diaz and Robert Hite were first-team honorees in 2006.
