Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s basketball team, led by new head coach Frank Haith, will play 14 games against teams that reached postseason last season, highlighted by visits from 2004 NCAA Final Four participant Duke, NCAA Tournament runner-up Georgia Tech, and intrastate rival Florida State.

The 2004-05 campaign will mark the Hurricanes’ inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Miami opens its ACC schedule versus last season’s NCAA finalist Georgia Tech on January 6 in Atlanta. Miami’s first conference home game at the Convocation Center will take place January 9 against North Carolina State.

“I think this season’s schedule will be a tough test for our young basketball team,” said Haith. “Competing in the ACC will give our team several opportunities to prove themselves against some of the best talent in the nation. The ACC has a rich basketball tradition and we expect every game to be both challenging and exciting.”

Miami’s ACC home schedule includes games versus intra-state rival Florida State (Jan. 15), Duke (Jan. 19), Clemson (Jan. 26), Virginia Tech (Feb. 2), defending ACC Tournament Champion Maryland (Feb. 5), Wake Forest (Feb. 15) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 26).

The Hurricane’s ACC road schedule includes games at Virginia (Jan. 12), North Carolina (Jan. 22), Wake Forest (Jan. 29), Clemson (Feb. 12), Virginia Tech (Feb. 19), Florida State (Feb. 22) and Duke (March 3).

Miami opens its regular season schedule at home against Wofford on November 20 and will travel to intra-state rival Florida on December 4 and inner-city rival Florida International on December 7. Miami’s non-conference home schedule includes games versus state rival Florida Atlantic (Nov. 29) and Atlantic 10 power Massachusetts (Dec. 12).

In addition, the Hurricanes will take on Xavier at the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at AmericanAirlines Arena on November 27. Xavier reached the Elite Eight at last season’s NCAA Tournament.

Season ticket packages for the 2004-05 men’s basketball season start at just $175. Family plans, which include admission for two adults and two children, are also available for as little as $399.
